Abhinav Bindra, officially announced retirement to shooting on 4 September 2016. Abhinav Bindra father Inderjit Singh, speaking to media conveyed that he salutes his son’s retirement from shooting, for the endless dedication and focus that he had put in through out his distinguished career. Abhinav Bindra spoke to the media and expressed his views on retirement as
“It's time to move on and hand over the baton to younger generation.”
He also said “It's an emotional day for me. I came 4th in Rio and now retiring after playing for 2 decades. In Rio, I didn’t won a medal and stood 4th but it gave me a great closure”.
